The Magic Ingredient To Your Music
Well, we’re at the countdown. My upcoming Lost & Found Live Experience is just over 24 hours away. You would think by now I might feel confident enough to step away and see what happens tomorrow but honestly we’re still adding and prepping elements for this first version of our show. And the truth is this has been a newer way of working for both myself and Alexis.
Last year when we got together to make this audiobook I suggested we write 60 pieces of music. Alexis had the good sense to talk me into 40 instead Lol! All we knew was that we were going to use the ingredients of my past albums to build musical beds for my writing. I knew that I wanted to leave the personal essays and instead focus on the spoken word pieces. And so we began meeting 2-3 times a week for several months at Alexis’ studio. I would arrive at his place with an idea of which excerpts of my music I wanted to pull from and then Alexis and I found new as well as familiar ways to create the various soundscapes and songs for this project.
Fast forward to January and we have a completed audiobook and album in one! We knew we wanted to share this material with the public and the last month has been a lot of color coded spreadsheets (Alexis’s favorite) and google docs (my favorite) to develop an evening length presentation of this work. We’ve brought in the incredible skill and talents of Alicyn Yaffee (on guitar), Rogerio Boccato (on drums/percussion), Angie Pittman (dance), Alexis (on electric bass/Ableton), and myself on vocals/keys. But the final ingredient we need is you! You breathing, feeling, and imagining with us. Music can be a solo pursuit but in the end we all want to share it with other people. So come make magic with us tomorrow night as we endeavor on yet another creative path with Lost & Found: Finding The Power In Your Voice.
